Accessibility statement
Charting Cyber wants everyone to be able to use this website, including people who use screen readers, keyboards, magnification, or other assistive technology. If something on the site gets in your way, tell us and we will fix it.
Our standard
We aim for the site to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. We are working toward that goal and are not claiming full conformance. The sections below describe what we have done and what we know is still imperfect.
What we have done
- Color contrast. Text on our dark backgrounds meets the 4.5:1 minimum for normal text. We use a lighter accent red and lighter gray for text so that it stays readable.
- Image descriptions. Informative images, such as product screenshots, have text descriptions. Purely decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
- Keyboard access. Every page has a "Skip to main content" link, and navigation menus, including the dropdowns, work with the keyboard. Interactive elements show a visible focus indicator.
- Page structure. Pages have a descriptive title, a single main heading, and labeled navigation regions to help screen reader users move around.
- Links. Links that look alike, such as "Visit website" or "Docs", carry a fuller description for assistive technology. Links that open a new tab say so.
- Motion. If your device is set to reduce motion, or JavaScript is off, page content appears immediately without fade or slide animations.
- Small screens and zoom. Pages are designed to reflow at narrow widths and at high zoom levels without requiring sideways scrolling, except where noted below.
How we check
We test with automated tools (axe-core, run across every page of the site), keyboard-only navigation, narrow-screen and high-zoom checks, and by reviewing pages by hand. This is our own testing. We have not had the site audited by an outside accessibility firm. Automated tools find only part of the possible issues, which is one reason we ask for your help below.
Known limitations
- Cookie consent banner. The consent banner and its preferences dialog are provided by a third party (Termly). We do not control its markup, and it may not meet every guideline.
- Navigation menus. The dropdown menus open on hover and on keyboard focus. They do not yet close with the Escape key, and their state is not announced to screen readers as expanded or collapsed.
- External sites. We link to vendor websites, documentation, and policies that we do not control.
