Tags
Tags let you label and group assets across any asset type (devices, users, vulnerabilities, and software) for your own organizational purposes, for example tagging a set of devices as “Critical Asset” or a group of accounts as “Contractor”.
Applying a tag
From any list page (Devices, Users, Vulnerabilities, Software), select one or more rows using the checkbox column, then use the selection toolbar to apply an existing tag or create a new one on the spot. There’s no separate “create tag first” step required.
Finding tagged assets
On Devices and Users, the filter rail has a Tags group listing every tag applied to that asset type, with a count. Tick one or more to show the records that carry any of them, the same way the Source and OS groups work. Selected tags show as chips above the table, and an export from a tagged view includes only those records.
In Advanced Search, Tags is also a field on Devices and Users, so you can combine it with other rules, for example “Tags contains any of Critical Asset” together with “OS platform is Windows”, or “Tags contains none of Reviewed”. Tag names are matched exactly, including case.
Tags on vulnerabilities and software can’t be searched yet. A saved query that uses a tag rule can be run and exported, but an action can’t run it yet.
Managing tag definitions
The Tags page under Admin is where tag definitions are managed (renaming, recoloring, deleting), separate from applying a tag to a specific asset:
- Search filters the list the same way search works on every other list page.
- Multi-select and bulk delete: select multiple tags with the checkbox column and remove them all at once. Deleting a tag removes it from every asset it was applied to.
- Color: choose a color for a tag from a fixed palette (or none) when you create it or with Edit. The tag then shows in that color on list rows and detail pages, which makes important tags easy to spot. Tags without a color keep the plain look.
- Assets Tagged is broken down by asset type, with a total. For Devices and Users, the count is a link that opens that list filtered to the tag. Vulnerabilities and software show their counts without a link, because those can’t be searched by tag yet.
Editing or deleting a tag from this page updates it everywhere it’s used; there’s no need to update assets individually.
Who can manage tags
Applying a tag to an asset is available to contributor and admin roles. Managing tag definitions (rename/delete) is admin-only, under the Admin section. See Admin for the full role breakdown.
